- BURIAL Scambler Cemetery Pelican Rapids, Otter Tail County, Minnesota, USA
Born Maria Eva Benz, 1807, at Selzen, Rheinhessen, Hesse Darmstadt, Germany.
(Her grave marker at Scrambler Cemetery in Pelican Rapids should read birth year 1807 not 1802)
She married Bauer “farmer” Jakob Neisinger in 1833. They were parents to eight children–raising six to adulthood–all born in Schwabsburg, Germany, a small hamlet just west of the Rhine River thirty miles south of Frankfurt. After immigrating to the US with Jakob and their three daughters during the late 1860’s, she lived about twenty-five years in rural La Crosse County, Wisconsin where all three daughters married and began raising families. Two of her sons, Jacob and Paul Neisinger, had preceded them to the La Crosse area, lived there about ten years, before relocating to Minnesota and Dakota.
Shoot the door!”, Grandma Eva Neisinger would say in her broken English according to oral family history. During the 1890’s, she was living with her son Paul and his large family on a farm near Pelican Rapids, Minnesota when she died. Paul had traveled a distance back to Wisconsin to pick her up a few years previous accompanying her to his area in northwest Minnesota. Eva had been living with her youngest daughter Catherine Wilkie in Bangor (La Crosse County) where Mr. Wilkie was a blacksmith. Their growing family possibly “forced” mother to relocate. Husband, Jacob Neisinger Sr, was dead by this time. There is no knowledge of when or where he died or is buried, but his death probably occurred in the Bangor, Wisconsin area.
She lived with son Paul in Minnesota only a few years when death claimed her at an advanced age. She is buried in Pelican Rapids, MN.

Her eight children:
Peter Neisinger, 1833-1894
Jacob Neisinger II, 1836-1917
Johannes Neisinger, 1838-1838
Elisabetha Neisinger, 1839-1843
Agnes Neisinger (Berg) Burk, 1841- 1893
Paul Andrew Neisinger, 1844-1928
Margaretha Neisinger Myers, 1847-1924
Catharina Neisinger Wilkie, 1849-1936
