Hi

My name is Melody Hanson Frees. I married James Frees in 2001. James is the great-grandson of Andrew and Elizabeth Frees.

I had not always been involved in family history. I find it interesting but I had never done much with it. James’ father mentioned one day that he had an aunt named Dorothy that he didn’t know anything about. He had heard she moved to San Diego to marry sailors going off to war to collect their life insurance policies. Well of course I was intrigued so I decided to start doing some research. I turned to my sister who has been involved in family history for over 20 years so I knew she would be able to help. Once I started I got hooked. I’ve grown to love this family even more than I already did. I’ve grown attached to these ancestors and love learning their stories. I can feel them guiding me toward information and I know they don’t want to be forgotten. This is my way of helping to keep their stories alive.
